The medium is the message
The voice (over and above what we say) has a major influence over our colleagues and listeners, or whoever that audience may be. During voice coaching, Natalie Vlismas draws on her formal background in jazz performance to help others develop vocal ability, presence and technique.
Frequently however, there is a deeper root to voice coaching. Deeper mental and psychological issues can stand in the way of our ability to communicate.
“We need to trust ourselves in order communicate in a way that is confident, authentic and meaningful,” says Vlismas. “All illness and wellness for that matter can be expressed in the voice. It is a sensory gauge of how well we are and how at ease we are.”
Vlismas leverages adult learning through coaching to address any underlying issues – emotional and psychological blocks or other belief structures that might be limiting or retarding one’s ability to communicate effectively verbally.
Voice coaching, as well as a stand-alone practice, is therefore also offered as part of a full coaching programme. Vlismas draws on a variety of coaching techniques to develop outcomes and goals, as well as the high level transformation required to reach those outcomes and goals.
“When you are aligned with your goals you are naturally more confident, you can express yourself authentically and spontaneously”, says Vlismas. “Motivating others towards a shared goal not only requires vocal presence but also conviction.”
